It would be hypocritical to say that Huo Qijun didn’t feel smug about his situation, but he understood that this was not a good look. He could only keep a cold face to hide his emotions. Little did he know that an unintentional glance from him nearly scared Yu Yu into a cold sweat.
When Lin Wei arrived, Huo Qijun was on the brink of falling asleep. The moment he saw Lin Wei, the effects of the alcohol took over completely, and he fell into a deep slumber.
“Let’s go, I’ll take you home,” Lin Wei said, stopping Yu Yu from trying to wake Huo Qijun. He bent down effortlessly and picked Huo Qijun up in his arms, then spoke to Yu Yu.
Yu Yu’s lips twitched. Huo Qijun’s domineering personality, combined with his tall stature and broad shoulders, easily put anyone else at a disadvantage. It was likely that Huo Qijun had never been carried like this before in his life. On the other hand, Lin Wei’s usually gentle demeanor made people often overlook that he was equally as tall and well-built as Huo Qijun. Yu Yu didn’t want to admit it, but this scene was surprisingly harmonious, making it hard not to look a few more times.
“Okay, thank you,” Yu Yu said. What else could he say? He could take a few harmless jabs at Huo Qijun because of their trust, but in front of Lin Wei, he felt insignificant. Lin Wei treated him well—not because of their relationship but purely due to his good upbringing.
Lin Wei dropped Yu Yu off at his doorstep, and as he got out of the car, the noise woke Huo Qijun, who had only been asleep for a short while. He was awake, but the haze of alcohol still clouded his mind, making him feel more lost than before, as if he didn’t know what day it was.
“Are you feeling uncomfortable?” Lin Wei asked, glancing at him as he drove.
Huo Qijun held his head and blinked slowly several times before finally answering, “No.”
In reality, he felt quite dizzy, but for some reason, he was suddenly reluctant to tell the truth, and he couldn’t remember why.
“Then that’s good,” Lin Wei replied, visibly relieved.
“…” Huo Qijun, who had just lied on purpose, felt a bit upset. Couldn’t he ask just one more time? Although if he did, he still wouldn’t tell the truth.
“No, I allow you to ask again!” He was genuinely drunk; otherwise, he would never permit himself such a humiliating act normally.
Lin Wei chuckled but quickly stifled his laugh. He glanced at Huo Qijun, who was frowning and clutching his head, and decided to indulge him by asking again. “Is your head uncomfortable?”
“…No!” Huo Qijun almost nodded in agreement.
“Good, so it seems it is,” Lin Wei translated for him. “Then I’ll drive slowly. Just hold on, and drinking some hangover soup when we get home should help.”
He added, unable to resist giving advice: “Next time, don’t drink so much. If you really don’t want to, just stand there with a straight face; no one would dare force you to drink.”
Huo Qijun was stunned for a long while before responding, “Are you saying I look scary?”
“…What?” Lin Wei was taken aback, believing he had misheard.
Huo Qijun repeated, “Do you think I look scary?!”
Lin Wei, utterly confused, asked, “Dear young master, where did you get that idea?”
“Ha! That’s exactly what you mean!” The drunkard was too lazy to explain, confidently declaring as he turned away, ignoring Lin Wei.
Lin Wei shook his head with a sigh.
When they reached home, he noticed that Huo Qijun couldn’t even walk in a straight line while being half-supported by Lin Wei. Unwilling to leave him alone, he decided to bring him back to his place; it wouldn’t be good if this drunkard slipped and fell in the shower while Lin Wei wasn’t looking.
After wobbling along for about half a minute, Lin Wei thought it was too slow and, since it wasn’t the first time, picked Huo Qijun up again.
It was easier for him, but Huo Qijun was still just drunk, and his mind was still somewhat aware. The moment he was lifted, his arms and legs stiffened.
Just as Yu Yu had guessed, he had never imagined that one day he would be carried by a man like this. He wanted Lin Wei to put him down immediately but found that he couldn’t utter a word, tongue-tied. Before he could untangle his muddled thoughts, Lin Wei had already placed him on the sofa.
“I’ll go make some hangover soup; you stay here and rest,” Lin Wei said, concerned that Huo Qijun might accidentally hurt himself and treating him as if he were a child.
“Mm.” Huo Qijun took a deep breath, wanting to clear his mind, but the alcohol clouding his thoughts made it impossible.
Lin Wei quickly prepared the hangover soup in about ten minutes. When he returned with the bowl, he saw Huo Qijun lounging with his eyes closed on the sofa, unsure if he had fallen back asleep.
The soup was still hot, so Lin Wei didn’t rush to wake him. Instead, he took off his outer coat and gently draped it over Huo Qijun, then patiently sat by, waiting for the soup to cool down.
Huo Qijun was truly asleep now, lost in a muddled dream until he felt the familiar scent of Lin Wei’s coat enveloping him. In his dream, he felt like he had transformed into a cat, curled up on top of Lin Wei.
“Meow!” Lin Wei!
Huo Qijun tried to call out to him, but in the dream, Lin Wei seemed accustomed to occasional calls from ice cream and didn’t respond. The one who did respond was the real Lin Wei…
[Did I hear that correctly?] Lin Wei stared at the sleeping Huo Qijun on the sofa, silently asking the system: [Did he just… meow?]
[Yes indeed!] The system was even more dazed than its master: [Maybe he’s dreaming about playing with a cat?]
Lin Wei stifled a laugh, and just as the hangover soup seemed ready, he tried to wake Huo Qijun up: “Aqijun, wake up. Drink the hangover soup before sleeping again; otherwise, you’ll have a headache in the morning!”
“Mm…” Huo Qijun was half-awake, hearing someone call for him; the scene in his dream shifted to Lin Wei calling out for ice cream, urging him to come over. In reality, Lin Wei was calling him Aqijun to wake him up.
The two sounds tangled together annoyingly, especially the word ice cream; hearing it once was already a headache!
“Aqijun!” Lin Wei raised his voice slightly upon seeing Huo Qijun refusing to open his eyes.
To his surprise, the drunkard lethargically swatted at him, which Lin Wei managed to catch with one swift hand: “Hey! You…”
